CYBERX
Cyberx Security SaaS Product /// 2018 - Current
CYBERX accelerates digital innovation by delivering the simplest and most robust solution for reducing risk from unmanaged IoT/OT devices. CYBERX is engaged in Internet of Things (IoT) cybersecurity for command and control systems for industry.
I was the Lead UI/UX designer for the company for two years, up to their acquisition by Microsoft in June 2020 for 165 million dollars.
The company's cyber platform is able to provide important insights in less than 60 minutes, which allows security teams to detect, predict and prevent security threats on vital infrastructures, thus averting OT and IoT network risks. The platform can also recognize all devices connected to the network.
OT System
At the core of the company lies the CYBERX XSense system, which deals with OT network threats and unmanaged devices, and is installed on-premises. The system studies communication patterns within the manufacturing facility or vital infrastructure, maps it out and characterizes it in detail in order to identify suspected activities that can be deemed hostile. When it is installed in the secure site, it begins its activity by performing a deep packet inspection, an in-depth scan of the system communication patterns.
New Assets Map - OT System
I started working on improving the design for existing features in 2018, as well as designing new features in close dialogue with clients and product managers Ariel Saghiv and Nir Krumer. In collaboration with the R&D department, headed by Amit Porat, we've managed to make this product accessible, user-friendly and esthetically pleasing.
I led the redesign of the Assets Map and designed Horizon – a plugin system that connects via API to the XSense system, along with other features that were added to the system. The features I designed helped CYBERX in signing more deals and recruiting new clients.
Horizon
IoT System
After leading a successful design sprint session with the company's managers, product managers, and programmers, we came to an agreement on focus points for planning and designing an IoT product that best fits the client's needs.
We divided platform users into three types: Risk officer, System owner, and SOC analyst. Each of these types has different requirements for the product, with various complexities. We analyzed the competition in the IoT market and began drawing screens manually, and later on, I started designing detailed mockups.

I got feedback from the team, and within a few months, I designed the whole product. I worked closely with R&D programmers to finalize the development of the product, up to the point of installing it in the clients' facilities. Fortunately, the feedback was positive and the new CYBERX product helped sign new deals.
Shortly after the development of the product, Microsoft decided to acquire CYBERX and to include them in their Azure Security Center for IoT. At the last stages of my work for the company I adjusted the product design to fit the Azure system design.
Design System
After working intensely on the IoT product, I applied the created design language on the XSense product, and formed a design system with clear rules and patterns in order to shorten development duration and unify designs across products.
This design system allowed the company to work easily and speedily on new features whenever needed. For the first time in the history of the company there was a coherent design language and an esthetical UX connection was made between the different systems.
With the Microsoft acquisition, this design language was easily altered to fit the Azure cyber platform.
Success Stories
CYBERX managed to significantly increase the sum total of deals with new clients owing to the new developed features.
CYBERX raised 18 million dollars on their Series B investment round from Qualcomm VC.
CYBERX was acquired by Microsoft for a total sum of 165 million dollars for its IoT product.

"I had the pleasure of working with Tal for almost 2 years in CYBERX.
Tal was the lead UX/UI Designer working with both Product teams and Engineering teams, designing all major features into the product and taking ownership of designing a new platform from scratch. Tal is a great team member and person, easy to work with, and I'm sure he will succeed in everything he does."
